My Review:
Although this isn't my favourite season, it is still amazing.  The always came up with fresh ideas that just seems to work.  But it has to be said Vaughan's wife sucked and stopped this season from being my fav.  Out of interest I managed to watch this in a day, a bit of a power watch but it is the best way to see it.

Brilliant.....Tom Hanks is "brilliant" in this.  This story just shows you how amazing it is they even made it into space back then, modern technology was to have a computer that only took up one room...that line is the funniest I think.

This is a great chick flick.  Not sure why it never really made it big like others.  This is one of those movies I like to watch in my sewing room while I am doing other things, the only issue is I find myself stopping what I was doing to watch the movie.  Definitely worth a watch if you haven't see it.

The Wrestler

My Review:
Man this started off strong.  At one stage I was thinking I just can't watch this anymore, but then I am thinking but I have to watch it we own it!  One has to have a strong stomach to watch the first 30 mins, but I will say the story is good and you really start to feel for the character.  Just amazing that people really do live like this.

The Lake House

My Review:
What an amazing movie this is.  Every time I watch I try to see if there are flaws in it.  The whole story just drags me in every time, what if this was to happen what would you use the letter box for? what questions would you ask the other person, it is endless really.  Keanu Reeves is even good in this.  I am not a big fan of his but he is great in this, I couldn't imagine anyone else for this role.

Ok for me this has to be one of the worst things we own.  It has a few funny bits in it but that is the best I can say for it.  I just keep asking myself "What was Mike Thinking!!!!" not sure how much he paid for it but man it is bad.  Best thing I can say is he thinks it funny and it is almost funny enough to watch him watch it.

This is an interesting movie, no Twilight stuff, but to a scary movie either.  I am just surprised how many of the actors in this have gone on to do other things considering it wasn't a popular teen movie.  I enjoy for a change but nothing to write home about.

Bride & Prejudice

My Review:
For me I am a master Jane Austen fan.  Anything she has written or any movie/TV series that has been adapted I have to own.  So this being a bollywood adaption of Pride and Prejudice I first had to have it no questions asked.  But I have to say first off my Father purchased this movie when it first came out, he lent it to me and said I would probably enjoy it.  Well it sat on the side table for a few days, I can remember thinking, they are going to ruin the story but I need to watch it.  So I finally put it in the player one night and watched it.  Once I finished watching it I watched it again, and then the next night.  I think what I enjoyed so much about this version is the story that Jane wrote is all there, but the colours that are used and the upbeat music just adds to it all.  This is one of those movies I watch regularly when I need to put myself in a happy place.

Downton Abbey

My Review:
Downton Abbey is such a refreshing change for a period piece.  It is a ITV production which in itself is a big surprise because they don't normally do so well with these things but this is amazing.  The story is well written and the actors are all very high quality, normally found in the BBC period dramas.  It is 7 episodes long and I watched all of this in one night just couldn't help myself.  If you get a chance get it.  They are going to a second season so this time next year season 2 will be out!!!

This is a pretty funny movie.  I had purchased this a few years back as my dad had owned it in the 80's and I remembered it to be pretty good.  It starts off really funny, but by the time you are half way through you are beginning to think when will this end!  I think the next stop for this is Trademe!

Alias Season 1

My Review:
Alias is a great show, with 5 seasons in total, we own 4 of them.  Originally Mike got hooked to the series and it was some years before I got to the point of watching it.  But once I started I had to just keep watching, this was last year.  So this year I get to watch them all again and I am looking forward to it.  The interplay with the characters is perfect for there parts, the chemistry between each of them really starts in season one, it gives you a taste of what is to come.  Well worth the watch if you haven't seen it.

So I have decided to sit down and watch a few Stanley Kubrick movies and this is he first of them.  For its time I am amazed how well it has held up.  There were a few parts there when I had to cover my eyes, but all in all its an interesting story but just not my kind of thing.

Falling Down

My Review:
So once again this is a Mike movie, I did do my best to watch it all.  But I have to say it has dated really badly.  I just couldn't relate to the character I just couldn't see him going from sitting in traffic to trashing a corner store and so on.  Maybe back in the day traffic like that would have made all of us lose it but today well we all get stuck in traffic like that every morning and I can't say that I have trashed a corner store yet.  If only it was still .85c for a can of coke that would be great.

I am thinking I need to put up a iPhone usage guide on each review to give some idea of how distracted I get while watch each movie, I have to say I spent a lot of time looking up actors that were in this movie that have gone on to do other things since....not good.

Serenity

My Review:
I can remember when this movie came out all of our friends were talking about how finally you get to see the rest of the story etc.  At the time I had no idea what they were all going on about.  So I was told I had to watch firefly first then this.  So as a good girl I did as I was told, I can remember I started Firefly at 8am in the morning, I was home sick one Friday and Mike went off to the Seven's with our mates.  By the time he got home around 11pm I had watched all of Firefly and was half way through Serenity.  I was one of the lucky ones not to have to wait a few years to see the end of the story.  Amazing movie and completely stands on its own but if you are interested you have to watch the TV series first.

One of the best shows ever made, why it never made it to season 2 is way beyond me.  The interplay between the characters is amazing and for the second time I have sat down and watched the whole series in one go, 15 episodes in one go and it is the only way the watch this show.  Brilliant!

My Review:
OK this is one of Mike's movies, it started off a bit slow for me. And I have to tell you the quality of the DVD didn't help it was like I was blind and all I could do was listen to what was going on.  This disk was purchased in the US as it hadn't come out on Region 4 at the time Mike purchased it, so that didn't help.  But it was typical  US humour and for the most part I didn't find the stupidity that funny, but it ended as you would expect and the funnies part of all is just how young Nicholas Cage was in this, there was no Hollywood glamour going on in this for him!

A chick flick through and through.  The sort of movie you watch when you have had a hard day at work and just need to escape for an hour of two.  Not a top chick flick but there are some funny moments in there and I just like it.  I always finish watching it with a smile on my face, and for me that is what Chick Flicks are all about, putting you in that happy place again.

To this day I am not sure on why I purchased this movie.  It has actors in it I like, but for me the story is just missing something to tie it all together. It was to all over the place for me, it had the makings to be great, the right actors, the pilot is good but it just doesn't carry through for me.  Didn't take me out of my reality so wasn't something that made me think too much about the story.

American Beauty

My Review:
Now this is a great movie.  I watched this with a friend and like he said it should be under the genre of comedy not drama.  There are more laughs in this than I ever remembered.  I am amazed that the actors that play the daughter and the boy next door didn't go on to be bigger stars after this movie.  The older actors certainly did.  It was such a "Big" movie at the time, and the scene with the plastic bag has been used a few times in other movies and sitcoms now.
Definitely worth a watch!

American History X

My Review:
This is a movie I had never seen.  How do you review such a powerful movie?  This is a movie everyone should see.

This movie made the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end, but I just couldn't stop watching it. The world can be such a "F#*ked Up Place" and this shows it at is best.  How anyone could ever believe so wholeheartedly like this is beyond me.  In a world like ours how can people still think like this, colour, race, why does it matter?  We are all people, we all have the same rights.  For me I live in a country (New Zealand) were I feel there is no difference in peoples colour, I'm not ignorant enough to say everyone here thinks like this, but I just don't see or feel it day to day.

I really like the movies that make you really think about the environment we live in and just how thankful I am for the world I live in.  This movie does that for me.  By far this has got to be one of the best movies we own.

Step-Up 3

My Review:
This one is a little out of order, had family round who wished to see it.  I like this movie, for a sequel it is pretty good.  They have done well keeping the theme going and it also stands on its own, more so I think than the second movie.  The first time I saw this it was in 3D and it was an amazing movie to see in 3D but I have to say the 2D version is just as good the story holds it own, it doesn't need the technology to make it a good movie.

I like watching dance movies make me think I could do that, pretty funny really because there is no way I could ever do anything like these guys.  But for a good 100 mins I get to live in a world were I think I can, and I get to have a bit of that joy that dancers get when they are doing what they love, and well for me that is good enough.  The interviews in this movie also help you understand what it is that make these amazing dancers do what they do all there lives giving 200% a day to do it.

Pros: Always makes me want to be able to dance like these guys, they make it look so easy that you wish you could just get up and do it yourself.

Cons: I like the first two stories and felt they held together and I'm not sure this 3rd one holds the same, the theme is there but to call it Step-up 3 hmmm not sure it is really, apart from the last 10 mins.

I like this movie, to the point I did actually stop doing what I was doing and sat down and watch it.  Zac Efron is great in this, not normally a fan but he is great in this part, very funny.  This movie make me thing what if I had the opportunity to do this, what would I gain from it would I change anything?  The thought is endless and well I am pretty happy with most of the things I have done in my life and hay I would be me without all the ups and downs so yeah a fun thought but nah not something I wish for.

My Review:
Not a bad movie, something I watch maybe once every year or so, normally when I am doing something else.  Heath Ledger is pretty young in this and was one of his first "Hollywood" movies.  The movie came out in 1999, hard to believe that is 11 years ago now.  Not really a favourite of mine somewhat lacks that normal teen thing that pulls you out of your current reality, but all in all not the worst thing I will have to admit to owning :o)

Foo Fighters: Skin And Bones

First for the year. Until I meet my fiance I had never really listened to the Foo Fighters.  After 10 years with Mike I believe I am now a Foo Fighter fan, and by far this is my favourite album and DVD of theirs.  I prefer there album work normally to the DVD's but this has it all.  We watched this on the Projector with some friends to see in the New Year, one of the best new years I think listening to great music and appreciating just how great friends are is the best New Years.  1 down 484 to go!
